LinkedIn Page Messaging for Law Firm Marketing

Law firms that want to enhance their communications with clients and prospects on social media can now activate LinkedIn Page Messaging, a new feature that can be used on a law firm’s LinkedIn company page.

Prospective new clients who visit your law firm’s company page on LinkedIn will be able to click on a Message button and communicate directly with the Page. Job candidates and current clients will also be able to start a direct conversation with you via LinkedIn.

The Page Messaging option is being rolled out by LinkedIn, so company page administrators who do not have this capability yet should watch for a message from the social media platform. Once in place, the Message button will serve as one of the primary buttons on your Page.

Message settings can be enabled or disabled through your “Inbox Settings” from your admin view. Once this feature is available for your page, you can activate it from your settings at linkedin.com/messaging.

When active, a “Message” button will appear near the top of your organization’s Page, enabling members to easily reach out for a variety of reasons. They can select from a dropdown such as requesting a demo, inquiring about a job posting, or requesting support.

When your LinkedIn Page receives a message, you’ll get a notification, and you’ll be able to view the message in a dedicated Pages inbox. Note that you must have super or content admin level access in order to see and reply to messages. Currently, admins can only respond to a message to a member if that person messages the Page first.

Once the “Message” button is added on your Page, it will become the default option for inbound communications from page visitors who want to interact. Administrators disable the “Message” button at any time by going to the inbox settings from the Page admin view.

By clicking on the “Message” button, members can message the Page by pre-selecting a list of topics to message about including “Request a demo” and “Careers” among others.

All messages from members will be sent to a new admin inbox, accessible from the Page admin view as well as your personal inbox.

You are able to use Messaging for LinkedIn Pages on LinkedIn or through a partner solution.

LinkedIn Page Messaging Tips for Law Firms

LinkedIn Page Messaging for Law Firm Marketing CommunicationsThere is a major benefit to law firms that activate the LinkedIn Page Messaging, but also a catch. The ability for prospects and other interested parties to communicate with your law firm directly on LinkedIn is a major benefit. The catch is that you need to monitor these inbound inquiries and respond promptly. Failure to be responsive in a timely manner could reflect negatively on the law firm brand. A response within 24 hours would be ideal. If a message arrives over the weekend or at night, the next business day is appropriate.

The challenge is that lawyers already maintain a hectic schedule with client meetings, court deadlines, and other calendar action items. The best approach might be to assign an office manager or law firm marketing director to the responsibility of maintaining a responsive LinkedIn Page Message program. It’s easy to grant administrative access to the law firm company page to a trusted employee or consultant.
